No respect for the dead (poem)

Your body left for five days

With no sign of a funeral date

And no funeral date without cash

As though you’re being held for ransom

And you’re just a number

Or a thing to make money from

You would turn in your grave

If they let you have one

You would cry at the idea

Of your daughter talking about

Cancelling her wedding to pay

You would be angry enough

At not making it to the wedding

You wouldn’t believe they could be

So heartless and make it all about money

To have so little respect for the dead
