Slow cooked romance (poem)

Take two strangers and pour them in a bowl

Then gently stir, mixing them together

Before adding the secret ingredient

And leaving them in the slow cooker

This part may take months

But it’s important if you don’t

Want your romance to be half baked

The result may be unexpected

But pleasantly surprising

It may be the best thing you ever did

And the more you taste, the more you’ll want

You’ll find that your strangers

Were never really that

And the recipe will be something

That others may try but never manage

To copy in quite the same way

Because every slow cooked romance

Is different and some people

Just don’t have the patience to wait
